Vote For Your Favorite Clayton Sculptures

It’s only February, but the Town of Clayton has a March Madness style tournament going on – the 2016-17 Clayton Sculpture Trail People’s Choice Award. Who will be the winner in this year’s contest? The field has been whittled down to three, and this week’s winner will be one of two sculptures in the finals to compete for the $1,000 prize.Clayton Sculptures People's Choice Awards

So, the choice is YOURS! Click the links below to learn more about each sculpture – including videos where the artists share their inspiration for each work – and use one of the options below to vote for your favorite. Week 6 voting ends at midnight on Sunday, February 26.

Week 6 pits the literal against the abstract, as two nature-inspired metal sculptures go head to head. Cathy Perry’s “Oasis,” displayed in Horne Square, transports the viewer to the banks of a pristine lake, while Adam Walls’ “Tree,” which adorns the roundabouts at Spring Branch Medical Park, is a more abstract take on the natural world.

You can vote for your favorite sculpture one of three ways:
• You can vote on the Town’s Facebook page – Just “Like” the picture of your favorite.
• You can vote online using Survey Monkey.
• You can vote by paper ballot at three different locations around Town: The Clayton Center Lobby, Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library, and the Clayton Community Center.

The 2016-17 Clayton Sculpture Trail features 11 big, bright and colorful statues that make a bold statement throughout Clayton. This year’s trail emphasizes the abstract, with many of the pieces using form to convey complex messages about life, movement and our place in the universe. Those looking for something a little more down to earth will find a whimsical take on a lake, complete with a happy little duck, and a fun piece at The Clayton Center that incorporates a mirror.
