Auditorium is backdrop for Shana Tucker video session

Shana Tucker video shoot at TCC

One of our audience favorites, the talented Shana Tucker, was recently in the house to record a segment for the Appalachian State University summer festival.

The ASU annual event is happening virtually this year, so when Shana was invited to participate in the program, she decided to pre-record the performance portions of of her presentation.

“I was asked to participate in a live stream performance,” Shana said. “I have done more than a few livestreams since COVID; I have had some good ones, and some not-so-good ones. In order to ensure that my performance looks and sounds as good as I always hope to present, I suggested to the presenters that we pre-record the performance components. I will appear live for any spoken commentary or the interview portions of the livestream, with the performances as shared screen offerings in between the talking moments.”

Shana said that she chose The Clayton Center as the backdrop for her videos because “The Clayton Center is such a beautiful space, both aesthetically and acoustically. I appreciate that space was made to accommodate my idea of filming a concert in a space that looks like a concert space.

“I appreciate that Scotty opened The Clayton Center doors and welcomed us into the space so that we had the figurative and literal “room” to create a high-quality performance piece, and also so we would have the chance to play music together (in person) again. We hadn’t done that as a quartet since January…it felt good to play familiar music with familiar people, with friends…in a friendly, familiar place.”

Shana also said that she prefers this style of livestream, since it affords the artist the benefit of showing up properly in performance, while also introducing the artist as a person, introducing their personality, to the viewing/listening audience.

Shana’s performance goes live on July 10 at 7:30 PM. Get more information about the Appalachian State University summer music festival, here.
