Sinclair Entertainment presents “Love Under New Management,” starring Miki Howard & Howard Hewitt, on Valentine’s Day — Tuesday, February 14 — at 8 PM at The Clayton Center.
“Love Under New Management” stars Miki Howard and Howard Hewett. Together, these popular R&B artists provide a romantic and soulful soundtrack for your Valentine’s celebration.
Miki Howard is a Grammy nominated, multi-platinum award winning recording artist, and actress. A native of Chicago, Howard found success as a solo artist with two number one hit songs on the R&B charts “Ain’t Nuthin’ in the World” in 1988 followed by “Ain’t Nobody Like You” in 1992. In 2002, Howard was nominated for a Grammy award for her album, “Three Wishes” followed by a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by The Chicago Music Awards in 2012. Beyond her love and success as a recording artist, Howard appeared in various films including “Malcom X” (1992), “Poetic Justice” (1993), and her lifetime biopic, “Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story” (2016).
Howard Hewett, Jr. is a singer and songwriter. A native of Akron, OH, Hewett began his career as lead singer of the R&B vocal group Shalamar before breaking out with a solo career. He released two top 10 R&B soul singles, “I Commit to Love” and “I’m for Real” in the 1980s. After finding success as a recording artist, Hewett continued his singing career, which includes contributing to the second season theme song for the successful sitcom, “Hanging with Mr. Cooper.” Hewett later released two follow up albums, including a self-titled album, “Howard Hewett,” and two gospel albums, “The Journey” and the follow-up, “The Journey Live: From the Heart,” which each found success in their respective genres.
The Miss Clayton/Capital City/Cleveland 2019 Scholarship Pageant is an official, local, triple preliminary associated with the Miss North Carolina Scholarship Pageant and Miss America Organization. As such, it is a part of the largest scholarship organization for women in the world. Promoting an emphasis on academics and communication skills, the Miss Clayton/Capital City/Cleveland Scholarship Pageant is considered a launching pad for young women to further their academic and career goals.
Miss America 2019, Nia Franklin, returns to the Capital City stage for the 2019 Miss Capital City, Miss Clayton, and Miss Cleveland Scholarship Pageant. Nia was crowned Miss Capital City 2016 on the Clayton Center stage on March 5, 2016. She was a Top 10 finalist at Miss North Carolina 2016 as Miss Capital City, and also received the Beth Stovall Music Scholarship award.
