This Friday, Nov. 7, marks the tenth year that the Woman’s Club of Clayton will host the popular Taste of Carolina fundraiser at The Clayton Center.
The event, which is the largest annual community event held here at the Center, will showcase the finest menu offerings of 15 area restaurants.
The Clayton Center is the perfect venue for the Taste of Carolina, with space to accommodate the hundreds of attendees and a layout that works well with this type of social event. Restaurants will be set up at stations around the Main Lobby and in the Council Chambers, and attendees will move from station to station, sampling taste-size portions from exhibiting restaurants. In between samples, guests will have the chance to participate in a silent auction, which also will be located in the Main Lobby. In addition to the tastings and silent auction, there will be live entertainment and dancing. Featured performers are Bruce Naegelen, Michael Devine and Johnny Orr.
Participating restaurants will compete for seven awards, including Best Presentation, Best Pasta, Most Original, Best Use of Local Ingredients, Best Dessert and the coveted People’s Choice awards. Staff members from Wake Technical College Culinary School will select the five “Best” awards. Ticketholders will vote on the People’s Choice awards.
All proceeds will benefit projects and causes supported by the Woman’s Club. These include Artists in the Schools, Clayton Visual Arts, Christmas gifts for needy children, First Baptist Church’s Backpack Buddies program and college scholarships.
Tickets are $35 and may be obtained from Marie Monsees at 919-553-5289 or any Woman’s Club member. Tickets also will be available at the door.
