American Idol Kris Allen
Friday, January 18, 2013 8 PM $30; $75 VIP Packages
Since skyrocketing to stardom as the winner of the 2009 season of American Idol, Kris Allen has spent a lot of time on the road.
He toured for 18 months after the debut of his first, self-titled album, playing headline shows, as well as opening for the likes of Keith Urban, Maroon 5, Barenaked Ladies and Lifehouse.
Kris auditioned for the eighth season of American Idol in Louisville, Kentucky. Throughout the season, he impressed the judges and the audience with his folk-inspired interpretations of modern pop songs, including “To Make You Feel My Love,” “Ain’t No Sunshine,” and “Falling Slowly.”
Kris’s impressive talent and warm-hearted charm shine in his live performances. Called “irrepressibly buoyant” by critics, he delivers hook-filled pop melodies and heartfelt lyrics that explore the ups and downs of love. His hit single “Live Like We’re Dying” was released just months after his American Idol win, and sold nearly 2 million copies. He is following up with his recently released sophomore album, Thank You Camellia, which showcases the easy, lived-in richness of his voice.
Kris Allen in concert is a special presentation of The Clayton Center and is presented as part of the 2012-2013 10th Anniversary season.
