From Cirque De Soleil’s KÀ To The Clayton Center
The Clayton Center has added a special event on Friday, October 7, at 8 PM – cellist and singer-songwriter Shana Tucker in concert.
Shana’s ChamberSoul™ stories and songs are illuminated with hints of acoustic pop and soulful folk infused with strong jazz undertones.
Touted by JazzTimes Magazine as “a jazz talent…whose imprint and vitality has already been quite visible…”, Shana’s style and sound has been described as a curious mash-up of Joni Mitchell, Dianne Reeves, India Arie and Tracy Chapman, with an efficient complexity of songwriting reminiscent of Bill Withers.
Following the release and promotion of her debut CD, SHiNE (Jazz Urbane Recordings/ChamberSoul Media), a radio interview on NPR led to an invitation to join the musical cast of KÀ by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. Shana currently divides her time between Las Vegas and her chosen home base, Durham, NC.
Triangle Arts & Entertainment notes that Shana is “a complex musician who offers not only a world-class voice that rivals that of Cleo Laine or Diana Krall, but also is an accomplished cellist…able to compete with musicians who make their living simply by playing one instrument…she carves out a space that is intrinsically hers…”
Tickets to this event are $15, and seating is General Admission.
