Join us on Thursday, August 24, for a kick-off party, starring Shana Tucker, to preview the 15th anniversary Palladian Series.
The price is right! For just $10 per ticket, you can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks (cash bar) in the Council Chambers before the show, and then head to the auditorium for a performance by the incomparable and irresistible Shana Tucker.
The Durham Herald-Sun calls Shana, “An absolute stunner,” and says, “Her original gumbo of jazz, folk and R&B evokes the spirit of Bill Withers and Esperanza Spalding.”
Shana’s style and sound are influenced by her jazz and classical roots, which she deftly weaves with the pop music, movie soundtracks and world music of the 80s and 90s.
Having opened for internationally acclaimed artists, including Norah Jones, Lisa Fischer, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Javon Jackson, the Blind Boys of Alabama, and Indigo Girls, Shana’s vocals and cello are featured on several studio and live recording projects by both independent and signed label artists and producers.
For the past 5 years, Shana has balanced her theatre, club and festival performances with her role as featured cellist/vocalist in Cirque du Soleil’s KÀ at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In 2017 she returned to her full-time touring and recording schedule. She has new collaborations in the offing, and is working to complete her sophomore recording project, set for release before the end of the year.
The season kick-off reception will be held from 6-7:15 PM. The concert begins at 7:30 PM. Seating for this event will be limited (only 300 seats are available), so purchase your tickets early!
