As many business owners and managers know, occasionally it’s a good idea to gather employees, customers, vendors or other groups together outside of the job site for meetings or for social reasons. Companies can use these get-togethers as employee or partner appreciation events, as holiday celebrations, or as a way to mark a business milestone. Whatever the reason for the gathering, these events are a great way to create camaraderie and foster networking in a more relaxed environment.
While traditional formal events—professional presentations and black-tie affairs—are still widely used by companies around the Triangle and surrounding region, we are seeing a change in how businesses approach their events and meetings. Event coordinators now have a far greater range of options when organizing corporate and small business sponsored events.
For instance, The Clayton Center recently was transformed into a Vegas-style casino, complete with Blackjack and poker tables and a full-size roulette wheel. A large Johnston County company sponsored the event as a holiday social for its employees.
A year or so ago, another company used the facility to bring together its regional management staff—employees from Raleigh and the greater Triangle, the Piedmont and areas south and east of Clayton—for a friendly Jeopardy-like Quiz Bowl competition.
Ideas for event themes are limitless. However we compiled the following list from a quick online search for trends in corporate themed events. Keep in mind, though, that these ideas are not only suited for corporate events. They can be used for most types of events including fundraisers, birthday and anniversary parties, and even weddings.
- Casino Night
- Quiz Bowl or Other Competition
- Circus or Cirque du Soleil
- An evening of entertainment with reception
- Comedy Night
- Mardi Gras or Masquerade Party
Regardless of the theme you choose, a themed party helps you to create a memorable experience for both clients and employees, and you can use these occasions to reward your partners and build relationships that can benefit your business.
