The Clayton Police Department was honored to recognize Major Jon Gerrell and Lieutenant Jason Hutchins at the Town Council Meeting that took place tonight. This proud moment was in tribute to Major Gerrell and Lieutenant Hutchin’s August 1, 2022, retirement.

It is a municipal tradition to award an officer his badge and service weapon upon retirement. Mayor Jody McLeod presented the official Retirement Resolution and awarded Major Gerrell and Lieutenant Hutchins with their badges and service weapons.

Major Jon Gerrell has been with the Clayton Police Department for over 26 years. He began his career with the Town on September 5, 1995, and during his time with Clayton, he served as a Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. Major Gerrell was promoted to Major in February 2020.

Lieutenant Jason Hutchins has been with the Clayton Police Department for over 24 years. He joined the Clayton Police Department in May 1998 and served as a Patrol Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He also acted as Captain on two occasions.

Thank you, Major Jon Gerrell and Lieutenant Jason Hutchins, for the positive impact you both made within this community. The Clayton Police Department and the Town of Clayton appreciate your work and are proud of your accomplishments. Congratulations on your retirement.
