On June 9, G-Force Robotics, Johnston County’s first all-girls robotics team hosted a Women in STEM luncheon at Yellow House the Community Place. G-Force Robotics is based out of Clayton, and they take pride in being about “More Than Robots”. Team members are involved in various local volunteer efforts and often host events at Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library.
This team’s primary goal is to provide local middle and high school aged girls with the opportunity to excel in the STEM field and learn more about potential careers and opportunities.
Representatives from Caterpillar, Omnicell, U.S Air Force, N.C. Crime Lab/NC Department of Justice and Attorney General's Office, and Johnston County Emergency Services spoke on a panel and shared insights into their experiences as women in the STEM field.
